As a Commercial Manager / Snr Quantity Surveyor for WBHO / Kalcon Saverio Natal and Lone Peter Seboletswe executed the following projects for Khoemacau Copper Mine.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TAILINGS STORAGE FACILITY – KHOEMACAU COPPER MINING

Drainage system which includes a toe drain and a vertical drain Solution trench, Energy dissipator, Catchment berm, Storm water drainage, Pumped decant system, Silt Trap, Return Water Dam with pump sump and gantry, and Monitoring instrumentation

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BOX CUTS – KHOEMACAU COPPER MINING

Excavation in soft material to form the box cuts.

Excavation in intermediate and hard material to form the drop cuts which required blasting.

Stabilization of the box cut sand slopes using a geocell type membrane complete with soilcrete infilling to protect the sandy slopes against erosion.

Stabilization of the weathered rock and hard rock drop cut using a combination of pre-tensioned grouted cable anchors and grouted resin tendons.

 Construction of the storm water control system including the concrete sumps located within the box cuts.

Supply and installation of the concrete jersey safety barriers around the rim of the drop cut excavation.

Construction of the pipe rack plinths for pipe and cable services leading into and out of the box cuts.

Construction of the concrete pads for the future primary ventilation fans and cooling unit.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE ZONE 5 INFRASTRUCTURE KHOEMACAU COPPER MINING

• Zone 5 Mine Infrastructure Park Area
• Change house building & Boot washing area.
• Administration building.
• Medical centre building and parking facility for medical vehicles.
• Pedestrian walkways.
• The sewerage reticulation system serving the infrastructure park area.
• Raw and potable water serving the infrastructure park.
• Security fencing on the infrastructure park terrace.
• Zone 5 Workshop Park Area
• Warehouse and store yard.
• Boiler maker workshop building.
• Tyre repair building and tyre fitting pad.
• Heavy vehicle workshop building (HME).
• Workshop park fencing.
• Storm water drainage of the workshop park.
• Sewerage reticulation serving the workshop park.
• Raw water and potable water reticulation serving the workshop park.

Various miscellaneous concrete slabs and concrete structures in the workshop park including the tyre change pad, the Heavy Vehicle (HV) wash bay and sump, two oil water separators, the Light Vehicle (LV) wash bay, the mud wash bay, concrete pads for skips and containers and the “on terrace” storm water drainage pipe work.

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE HAKA PIPELINE – KHOEMACAU COPPER MINE

12 km of 250mm dia Butt welded HDPE buried pipe network from 4 x boreholes.

Supply and installation of 4 x electrical borehole pumps and associated well head piping.

•   The supply and installation of a new 1000m³  closed steel tank
•  Including civil works, delivery and suction lines.
•   Supply and installation of 2 x transfer pumps including civil works at Haka header tank area.
•   Panel header tank complete with civil foundations at the Haka pump station area.
•  38 km of 280mm dia Butt welded HDPE buried pipe network from Haka header tank to Zone 5 receiving tanks.
•  2 x 2000m3 closed steel panel receiving tanks and Zone 5 tanks including civil works, delivery and suction lines.
•  Fencing at Haka header tank area
